What Are the "These Strange Worlds" Novels?

"These Strange Worlds" will be a series of youth market science fiction novels. I have completed the first two novels in the series and one of the purposes of this web site is to promote these novels.

The target market includes male and female science fiction readers and video and role playing gamers. Adult science fiction readers are a secondary target. The novels have a positive, hard science tone with no explicit sex and PG-13 cinemagraphic violence.

If you are a literary agent or publisher, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

The first novel is approximately 68,000 words and is titled "Strange Worlds Doors." The second is approximately 110,000 words and is titled "Strange Worlds Yellow."

What is the "These Strange Worlds" Role Playing Game?

"These Strange Worlds" Role Playing Game (RPG) is a role playing game set in the same universe(s) as the novels. Players assume the role of one or more inhabitants of the science fiction, magical, or time travel-based universes in These Strange Worlds, create prime requisites, acquire equipment, and develop goals. A Gamemaster creates scenarios that will test the players' combat abilities, problem solving and planning -- and role playing skills. Opportunities for online play are optimized.

The Zone Pioneers in general and specific characters or situations featured in the novels are not the focus of the game, but are in some cases described as part of the overall fabric of the Yellow, Red, and Blue universes.

TSW/RPG is based in part on the 1990s "Strange World" text-based on-line RGP and on the 1970s "Superhero 2044" by Donald Saxman (published by Gamescience).

It is specifically designed to be a combat and problem-solving, turn-based role playing game that will develop the player's writing and compositional skills. A similar approach was used by the author's "Learning Cube" home schooling Videotex-based service offering.

What is the "These Strange Worlds" Compendium?

The Compendium or "Zone Pioneer Compendium of Useful Information Concerning These Strange Worlds" is a handbook and encyclopedia provided to members of the Zone Pioneers.

The on-line version of the Compendium provides background information of interest to RPG players, Daylog contributors, and (eventually) will be of interest to novel readers.
